“Kirpik” Wins Award

Supported by Canlandıranlar Talent Camp and directed by Doğa Kılcıoğlu, the death and mourning-themed animated short film “Kirpik” won the Special Jury Award at the Directed by Women Turkey 7th International Women Short Film Directors Festival held in Istanbul at the end of September. In its reasoned decision, the jury noted that the film “offers a powerful conveyance of emotions to the audience by dealing with the mourning process in a different and unique language, contrary to the narrative language of the male-dominated world.”
“Kirpik,” which had its international and national premieres at the Imagine This Women’s Film Festival in New York and the Darağaç Film Festival in Izmir, will be screened in the National Competition category at the Canlandıranlar Film Festival in October 2025.
Other festivals where “Kirpik” has been accepted include the Seattle Turkish Film Festival, the Full Bloom Film Festival, the Phoenixville Film Festival, the Hobnobben Film Festival and the Ridgway Film Festival.
