In the early 1960s, during the independence period in West Africa, a young French officer is tasked by the metropolis with finding a missionary priest who has gone missing. An investigation filled with distrust and indifference, silence and prejudice, takes the young officer far from the coastal lights, to a place where day and night merge into one another.
