Acis, lover of the Nereid Galatea, was killed by the Cyclop, mad with jealousy. But Galatea transformed the blood of her unfortunate lover into a river. Along the course of the river Acis, in the places it flows through, from its source to the sea, different creatures meet, monsters, deities and mere mortals. Its waters reflect their passions and conflicts and bear witness to their metamorphoses.
