Linda Wants Chicken! / Linda veut du poulet! Premiere in Turkiye
Directors: Chiara Malta, Sébastien Laudenbach
France, Italy (2023) 1h16 d Drama, All Audiences
Linda Wants Chicken is one of the most popular independent animated films of the year. This dynamic, stylised, funny and touching film won the Cristal, or Grand Prize, at Annecy this year, to the delight of both the audience and the jury. We are familiar with co-director Sébastien Laudenbach’s highly personal graphic narrative style from the film Girl Without Hands, which was screened at our festival in previous years. Linda Wants Chicken! received great acclaim not only in Annecy but also at the Cannes Film Festival. In the film, Linda is unfairly punished by her mother Paulette. Realising her mistake, Paulette is ready to do anything to make up for it. Linda wants to eat chilli chicken cooked in the same way as her father, whom she lost when she was very young. Paulette, who doesn’t know how to cook, will she be able to do it when there is a general strike in the country and all the shops are closed?
