The 560 pages of the book Mao Tse-tung, Selected Works, Volume II serve as a canvas for hand-drawn animations created using ink pen and increasingly dense layers of paint, that Heimo Wallner applied over the course of 15 passes. After each pass, Thomas Renoldner recorded the book pages with a 35mm animation camera, ensuring absolute consistency in alignment and exposure.
