For this film, which I had the pleasure of discovering at the 1992 Hiroshima Animation Festival, Schwizgebel developed the truly brilliant concept of arranging the scenes in a spiral pattern across a series of large-format sheets of paper. Despite this geometric structure, the film retains a painterly lightness and elegance; combined with a perfectly matched musical score, it left a lasting impression on me as an unforgettable cinematic experience.
