This film tells the opening legend of One Thousand and One Nights. Having discovered his wife’s infidelity thanks to his brother, Sultan Shahriar descends into madness. Neither the lovers’ coronation in the palace gardens, the scene of their trysts, nor the discovery of an even more unfortunate genie, nor his decision to marry and then put to death a young girl every night, satisfy his thirst for revenge. Only the stratagem of Scheherazade and her sister will calm his destructive madness.
